Connecting The Chowly Integration

*Important Note: Customers do not connect Chowly integrations, Bbot or Chowly will do this for the customer. The customer does not receive their API key or partner ID at any point in the implementation process.

To connect Chowly, navigate to the Owner Portal and then to the Bbot App Store under the Integrations configuration heading.

From there, scroll down to find the Chowly Integration Tile and click 'Connect Chowly' to begin the integration process.

You will need to select whether you will be using the Chowly integration in a Virtual Restaurant/Ghost Kitchen setting or using it as an Online Ordering platform.

Virtual Restaurants: This setting allows customers to use Bbot as the POS and will allow orders from third-party online ordering services (TOOS) like GrubHub or UberEats to be injected into Bbot from Chowly. For this configuration, all menus will be stored in Bbot for the TOOS. You will need to enter the SDK (Software Development Toolkit) Key and Chowly Partner ID, both provided by Chowly, and then click 'Submit' to finish connecting the integration.

*Note*: You are not able to use the same Chowly Partner ID when connecting the Chowly integration for multiple accounts. You will need a unique partner ID for each Bbot account that you would like to connect the Chowly integration to.

When connecting the 'Virtual Restaurants', you are also able to select the fulfillment method and the location code that you would like orders injected to when they are received by Chowly.

  • 'Desired Fulfillment Method for Third-Party Orders' - This allows you to select either 'Pickup', 'Delivery', or 'Auto' for the fulfillment method orders are being injected into. If 'Auto' is selected, it will automatically assign the order to the fulfillment method received from Chowly, either Delivery or Pickup. Warning: If the Bbot account has a Doordash integration this setting will need to be set as 'Pickup' If this is not done all orders will be rejected by the Doordash integration and will cause the 3ps systems to cancel the order.
  • 'Desired Location For Third Party Orders' - From the dropdown, you're able to select a specific location code to have orders injected to. The location codes available will be dependent on the fulfillment associated with each code, either Delivery or Pickup.
  • Online Ordering: If this configuration is selected, this will use Bbot as an online ordering platform and will inject Bbot orders into Chowly, and eventually the POS. Chowly will provide you with an API (Application Programming Interface) as well as the Chowly Partner ID to enter for the integration.

Chowly offers four different dashboards each offering different functions to update your menu, printers, and restaurant information. You can access the different dashboards by clicking the dropdown menu in the top right corner of your Chowly dashboard in Plaunch.

Plaunch: This is the main dashboard for Chowly that allows you to update your restaurant information including address, delivery settings, and what ordering platforms Chowly accepts orders from.

Aperitif: Aperitif is an application built to allow restaurants and groups to review orders and sales across multiple locations in their groups or individual locations for single stores and managers.

Dejeuner: Dejeuner is the Chowly menu editing, copying, and publishing tool that was developed internally to drastically reduce the amount of time necessary to edit menus. It includes functionality for copying menus across partners and different TooS. For more information on using Dejeuner, click here.

Aboyeur: Aboyeur is a tool to check the initial menu import (during the implementation process) and the success of all 3rd party menu updates afterward. This tool provides clear and accurate confirmation of whether or not menu updates are successfully applied to the 3rd party customer-facing menu.

Garcon: Garcon is the live testing site that helps send a test order to the location's POS. This can be accessed by clicking on the 'Launch In Garcon' as shown below.

To disconnect the Chowly integration, click the 'Disconnect' button as shown below.

You'll be prompted with the pop-up window shown below to confirm the disconnection and to verify whether you'd like to delete any existing Chowly menu items.
