Blocking Injected Orders from Printing in Toast
Bbot and Toast printing operate completely independent of one another. If you have a Bbot Printer Control Box as well as Toast Printing configured, changes may need to be made in both Bbot and Toast to configure printing and to avoid duplicate tickets.
Using some of the settings outlined below, you can configure your Bbot and toast printers to work in a few different ways. The options are as follows:
- Block all Bbot orders from printing in Toast:
- Block specific Bbot Dining Options from printing in Toast
- Use a combination Bbot Dining Options and Prep Stations to pick which orders get printed in toast
- Use any combination from above, in addition to duplicate prep stations to block items from printing, but still allow them to appear on the Toast KDS.
Blocking items from both printing in Toast and appearing on the Toast KDS:
If you would like to inject Bbot orders into Toast, but have them blocked from both printing and appearing on your KDS in Toast, there are a few steps you will need to take. In Toast, set up a “NO PRINT” prep station with no printer attached to it.
Next you will need to set up some item routing rules to route items for that prep station that were ordered through Bbot to the NO PRINT prep station. This setup will prevent the items that you have re-routed from printing in Toast, but it will also prevent them from appearing in the Toast KDS under the Prep Station that you are routing them from. You can customize the rules for specific applications by selecting different Dining options for the rule, but you will need to make a specific Item Routing Rule in Toast for each Dining option that you want to re-route.
Blocking Items from Printing through Toast, while still allowing them to appear on Toast KDS:
Similar to above, you can create item routing rules to re-route items to a prep station that does not allow for printing, but we can do this in a way that allows items to still be visible on your KDS. First , we can create duplicate prep stations that have no printers attached to them to route the items to. In this example, we are using these prep stations: Justin Food, Justin Bar, Justin Food NO PRINT, and Justin Bar NO PRINT.Next, we set up item routing rules in a similar way as before. This time we will need one rule for every combination of Dining Option and Prep Station. In this example we used two different Prep Stations, but you can use this method to route the items from as many or as few stations as you would like. You can also choose to do this for only one Dining Option, such as Bbot Dine-In, Bbot Takeout, or Bbot Delivery, or any combination of the three.
Now that we have routed the items to their new "NO PRINT" prep stations, the final step is adding the new stations to any of the devices that need to have access to them. To do this, on your Toast Device:
- Tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner
- Tap on Device Setup
- Tap on Prep Stations
- Select the original prep station and the new “No Print” prep station
